NOF ACCREDITATION
[COMING SOON]
The goal and desired outcome of the National Onsite Foundation (NOF) accreditation program is to create a methodology of reviewing onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) training material for practitioners within the OWTS industry. The NOF seeks to develop a criterion for required elements to be included in OWTS training materials. The NOF will then assess and analyze submissions to ensure that the material is complete and based upon good sound practices and principles and/or acceptable methods and/or standards of the training and training materials based upon the criterion.
The NOF believes that all practitioners within the OWTS industry should have access to training, education and certification programs that are specific to the duties and activities of the providers. This training should consist of a more practical approach than those courses at a college or university level, which deal more with theory and research as opposed to the real-world application of duties.
The NOF believes that a “National Standard” may be developed for most sectors/activities within the industry for which all training, education and certification courses at this level could be reviewed and analyzed against.
The NOF believes that each submission should have a method of measuring the understanding and comprehension of the course and a process in which to evaluate the individual’s knowledge and skills obtained through the training and course work.
The NOF will be reviewing training and education programs and materials to ensure the consistency and quality of the programs. Our goal is to give credence and credibility to these programs via the accreditation process and protocol developed and established by the NOF Review Committee.
The NOF will utilize a review committee made up of regulatory individuals, academia, practicing practitioners, engineers and others in the onsite wastewater industry who are concerned with and dedicated to supporting the education and training of real-world application to practicing practitioners within the industry.
The NOF believes it is important to be a resource to all state and national associations and any entity seeking to gain accreditation and approval of onsite wastewater practitioner specific training and to provide unbiased review and comments regarding such training.
